Volunteer Opportunities

It is time to be thinking of the people you believe should receive awards for their contributions to tennis in Northern Michigan and beyond.

Each year the Northern Michigan Tennis Association would like to honor members of our district who have contributed in an exemplary way to the prosperity of tennis throughout our district. We are asking for nominations in the following categories:

Junior Female Sportsmanship Player of the Year
This is awarded to the 18 and under age division female player from NMTA who demonstrates the highest standard of tennis accomplishments, character, conduct, sportsmanship, appearance, and amateurism.

Junior Male Sportsmanship Player of the Year
This is awarded to the 18 and under age division male player from NMTA who demonstrates the highest standard of tennis accomplishments, character, conduct, sportsmanship, appearance, and amateurism.

Family of the Year
This award is for a family that has at least one adult and one junior member who are actively involved in playing/promoting tennis in the Northern Michigan District.

Volunteer of the Year
Awarded to someone who has given willingly of their time to support and promote the game of tennis in the Northern Michigan District

The Phyllis Laurila (grassroots) Award
Awarded to someone who has contributed to the development of tennis programs from the grass roots up for five years or more.
